How to run insightful scenarios - where to start and what brings good insights
In order to run an insightful scenario it is best to first review the insights or groups of insights you wish to run the scenario for and obtain an understanding of how confident you are in being able to mitigate the activities or groups in question.
Things to keep in mind:
- Selecting high criticality activities and groups will have a greater impact on the target milestone
- Try mitigating different paths of activities as this will reveal the point which you will need to consider another parallel path.
- Mitigating a predecessor to another risky activity will change its criticality and hence the change the driving paths.
- Our algorithms find the most impactful activities, hold them to time and recalculate the entire schedule before finding the next most impactful activity. This process is repeated over and over again to ensure we raise insights that will have the highest possible impact on your projects.
What is mitigation effectiveness? - How does it work and what it does to the distribution
Mitigation effectiveness refers to your confidence in your ability to mitigate an activity. In the mitigation scenarios feature you have the ability to customise this for each activity from 0.1 (low confidence) through to 0.9 (high confidence). The higher the mitigation effectiveness the more uncertainty that is removed from the activity distribution.
