nPlan’s Activity Neighbourhood helps you better understand context surrounding the highlighted risk by exploring tasks surrounding the highlighted activity.
You can find the activity neighbourhood within any individual activity card. Once you click on ‘Launch Activity Neighbourhood’ a new tab will open in your browser with the Activity Neighbourhood.
The Activity Neighbourhood is a summarised visualisation of the schedule that we have developed to help us identify risky schedule sequencing at a glance. You will see the individual activities or milestones surrounding the highlighted risk.
Activities and milestones are differentiated by their shape within the visualisation, you can click on these to identify further information which has been pulled directly from P6 such as the ID, name, WBS and planned dates. By default the activities/milestones will be identified by their ID, however you can use the drop-down on the top right to view them by their name, planned start date or planned end date.
Extending the neighbourhood
You can continue to expand the Activity Neighbourhood by selecting the activity either at start or at the end, you will then be able to view both successors and predecessors within your programme, use this option to view how the highlighted risk could impact upcoming activities/milestones.
TIP! 💡 There is no limit to the amount of predecessors or successors you are able to see, try expanding your full programme to identify any risky schedule sequencing such as bottlenecks.
